skill-zh — Chinese Skill Descriptions for Claude Code

skill-zh is a free, MIT-licensed Claude Code plugin that translates installed English skill descriptions into Chinese. It translates the full description while aiming to preserve usage conditions, quoted trigger phrases, commands, and product names. Skill bodies stay unchanged.

Local installation required: this Agensi listing supplies an installation and usage guide. Loading the guide does not install the plugin or register background hooks. Get the actual plugin from windery/skill-zh on GitHub.

Requirements

• macOS or Linux; Windows is not supported
• Python 3.8+ available as python3
• Claude Code installed and logged in, with claude on PATH
• Optional: PyYAML for stricter parsing

Install in Claude Code

Start a new Claude Code session to let background translation run. Chinese descriptions appear in the following session.

What the plugin does

• Translates descriptions in the background at session start and after detected skill installation/update commands
• Preserves local originals and supports restoration
• Provides /skill-zh:status, /skill-zh:translate, and /skill-zh:restore
• Offers configurable models and excluded skill folders
• Manages supported global skill directories; excludes project-level and plugin-bundled skills by default

Data, costs, and restoration

The plugin uses your own Claude Code login and model quota, with Opus as the default. Only descriptions are sent to Claude; skill bodies are not sent. It modifies local SKILL.md descriptions and stores backups and logs under ~/.claude/skill-zh/ (or under CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR). Translation quality depends on the model.

Run /skill-zh:restore before uninstalling. Restoration only changes descriptions that still match the plugin's recorded translation; manually edited translations are left alone. Automatic hooks require Claude Code, even when the plugin manages another agent's supported global skill directory.
