Register Skill on Etsy

Listing a digital product on Etsy takes longer than it should, and the listing editor has traps that only show up after you've made the mistake: the category quietly set to Physical so the files field never appears, a first photo that gets cropped to a square and cuts your headline in half, 13 tags that each have to fit in 20 characters. This agent skill does the whole listing for you and stops at a free draft, so you only check it and press Publish.

What it does

• Reads your skill, app or other digital product: SKILL.md, README, licence and every file a buyer will download.
• Builds clean downloads and runs a privacy (GDPR) and security scan for secrets, personal data and risky code, with a report and SHA-256.
• Splits the download sensibly for Etsy buyers: the app, the source and the skill as separate files (Etsy allows 5 files of 20 MB).
• Makes sure the first photo is a square cover, because Etsy crops thumbnails to a square.
• Fills the listing editor in your own browser: Digital category, a short readable title, a plain-text description, 13 tags, files, price, quantity, shop section.
• Answers "How it's made" honestly, including "With an AI generator" when AI helped.
• Saves a draft (free) and stops. Publishing costs Etsy's listing fee, so it waits for your yes.

What it leaves alone

Your shop-wide settings: the note to buyers, sections, policies and shipping profiles. It never types passwords, card or bank details, and never publishes on its own.

Learned from a real listing

The form map, field ids and troubleshooting come from listing a real Mac app (Memento Finder) in a real Etsy shop on 26 September 2026, including every trap hit along the way.

Known limitations

Works with agents that read the open SKILL.md format, can run Python and can control your own logged-in browser (click, type, run JavaScript, attach local files). Tested with Claude and Claude in Chrome. Agents that browse in a remote cloud browser can fill the text, but you do the uploads. Etsy changes its editor now and then, so a field may move; the skill re-reads the page when that happens. Independent tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by Etsy, Inc.
