Compare an internal transfer and external product-operations roles using the same criteria: work content, manager/team fit, required skills, stability, compensation evidence, growth, location, and transition cost. Weight these criteria only after Maya ranks them. Do not assume the external path is less stable or the internal path is available.

Weeks 1–2: define and research

Review a small sample of current role descriptions and record repeated responsibilities, tools, and evidence requirements. Treat the sample as directional, not a market forecast. Ask an internal contact about transfer processes only if appropriate.

Weeks 3–4: test the fit

Create a one-page case study from a permitted process-improvement example: problem, baseline if documented, intervention, measured result, and limitations. Avoid confidential data and unsupported attribution. Conduct two informational conversations with consent and prepare questions about actual day-to-day work.

Weeks 5–6: compare routes

Request an exploratory internal conversation if available. In parallel, select a small set of suitable external roles and tailor the résumé only to verified experience. Track applications and feedback; do not mass-apply.
