Example session with this skill installed
Set up Apply Kit for me.
- Read your context and instructions
- Compiled the apply kit
Apply Kit is installed in ~/Documents/apply-kit.
What I did
- Checked Node.js: version 18 or newer is installed, so nothing to do there.
- Created
~/Documents/apply-kitand copied the kit into it, including the hidden.claude/folder with the two skills. - Ran
npm install: Playwright for the PDFs, markdown-it, pdfjs-dist and two font packages. Playwright downloaded its Chromium once, about 100 MB.
What's in the folder
| Path | What it is |
|---|---|
CLAUDE.md | The rules, starting with "never invent a fact or a number" |
.claude/skills/onboarding/ | Builds your confirmed profile from your old CVs |
.claude/skills/tailoring/ | Fit check, CV and cover letter for one job ad |
renderer/ | The PDF renderer and the numbers check |
examples/ | A fictional applicant's profile, CVs, letters and PDFs |
Next step
Open ~/Documents/apply-kit in Claude Code (in the desktop app: Code, open folder) and say "hi". Onboarding takes about 15 minutes: Claude reads your old CV and LinkedIn PDF, asks about everything that doesn't add up, and you finish with your first CV as a PDF.
What a finished CV looks like (from the example set, rendered by the kit):

About this skill
I built Apply Kit for my own job search: 89 applications, 65 tailored CVs, 42 rejections, 7 interviews and the job I wanted. Around application forty my CVs started contradicting each other, so the whole kit runs on one rule: nothing goes into an application unless you've confirmed it.
How it works:
- Set up once, in about 15 minutes. Claude reads your old CV and LinkedIn PDF, lays your career out as one timeline and asks about everything that doesn't add up.
- Paste a job ad. You get an honest fit check first, skills and role level judged separately, including "not worth your time".
- Get the PDFs. A CV and a cover letter for that job, in its language, from your confirmed facts only. A script checks every number in them against your profile before the PDF is made, including numbers written as words.
What you get:
- Two skills, onboarding and tailoring, plus a CLAUDE.md with the rules
- A PDF renderer (Playwright) for A4 PDFs with real, selectable text that applicant tracking systems can read
- German conventions: Anschreiben with recipient, date and subject line
- A fictional applicant's complete example set
Needs Claude Code (desktop app) and Node.js 18 or newer. Tested on macOS.
Network and data: setup runs npm install (dependencies from npm, plus a one-off Chromium download of about 100 MB for rendering). Web access only when you give a job ad link or ask for company research. No account, no server, no telemetry. Your data stays in one folder on your computer.
