    YouTube SRT Caption Timing Check

Example session with this skill installed

Create the synthetic demo file below in a private local folder; it is an additional example, not a bundled filename. Run youtube-srt-timing-receipt examples/listing-review.srt after the README installation and return the full JSON receipt. Do not edit the input, access an account or import/upload anything.

Synthetic input, measured local CLI result

Executed using the unchanged buyer package v0.1.6 on Windows with Python 3.14. This demonstrates the installed CLI, not automatic agent activation or a native platform test. Input uses UTF-8 and LF newlines; a different save encoding/line ending changes the hash.

    Interpretation and next step

Cue 1 ends before it starts. Correct the timestamps in a separate working copy, then rerun. The tool does not transcribe or assess caption accuracy.

The CLI returned exit code 1 (REVIEW). A separate normal synthetic input returned exit code 0 (PASS_CHECKED_RULES) in the same exact-package replay. A local pass covers only the documented rules; complete the platform's own review before import/upload.

The JSON above is the complete terminal output. No CSV export, account connection, correction or upload was produced by the checker.

Connects securely to your tools. The creator never sees your data.

    About this skill

Before you install: Python 3.11+ and a trusted private local working folder. This is a downloadable source ZIP with a Python CLI and Agent Skill instructions, not a hosted service or one-click desktop app. A terminal (or a compatible agent allowed to run local Python) is required. Prepare trusted pip, setuptools>=68 and wheel for source installation. The core CLI uses only the Python standard library. No connected service account or API key is needed for the local checks; AI assistant/provider fees are separate. Optional local MCP requires its separately installed trusted SDK and local root configuration; it is not required for CLI use.

How to use: Extract the whole ZIP, install from its folder using the README command, and run youtube-srt-timing-receipt <local-file>. Review the JSON receipt, correct any issue yourself in a separate working copy, then rerun before the platform's own manual review. The checker does not change or import your input. Its receipt is printed to the terminal; save it separately if you need a report file.

Short description: Check a local SRT for invalid timestamps, overlaps, cue numbering and empty captions before manual YouTube upload. Get a JSON issue receipt without caption text.

Buyer receives: Python 3.11+ CLI, optional local MCP adapter, Agent Skill instructions, working sample SRT and guide. JSON receipt includes issue codes/cue numbers and SHA-256.

Limits: 2 MB/20,000 cues. Checks basic SubRip structure, not transcription accuracy, language, styling, accessibility quality or YouTube acceptance. The free YouTube editor and free subtitle tools are alternatives.

Compatibility evidence: Measured CLI examples used Windows and Python 3.14. Agent activation and every host/version combination have not each been tested.
