What Kills It — Ruthless Plan Grill
Example session with this skill installed
Grill me before I build this: I want to sell a monthly AI meal-planning app for busy parents. $9/month, generates weekly menus and a shopping list. I think I can get 1,000 paying users in 6 months with TikTok ads.
- Read your context and instructions
- Compiled the what kills it
Verdict: Fix-first
Good problem, but the plan rests on two numbers nobody has checked yet.
The holes
Who already does this — Mealime, Paprika, and free ChatGPT prompts already make menus. Why would a parent pay $9 for something they get free? (ASSUMED that they would)
Hidden cost — TikTok ads for a subscription app often cost $20–60 per paying user. At $9/month, you need people to stay 3–7 months just to break even. (ASSUMED — not measured yet)
Unhappy path — allergies, picky kids, a family that skips 2 of 7 dinners. If the menu doesn't fit real life, they cancel in week 2.
How will you know?
| What | Honest number |
|---|---|
| Frozen metric | % of trial users still paying at day 60 |
| Baseline to beat | A free ChatGPT prompt doing the same |
| Real cost | Ad spend per paying user, not per click |
What kills it
- Cost per paying user is higher than what one user pays you over their lifetime. If that happens, every new user loses you money.
- Parents cancel after the first month.
- A free alternative is "good enough."
Cheapest test (this week)
Make a one-page landing page with a "$9/month — join the waitlist" button. Spend $100 on TikTok ads. Count how many people click "pay" — not "like."
Next step: run the $100 test before writing any code.

About this skill
Most AI agents cheer you on. This one doesn't.
What Kills It turns your agent into a tough, honest reviewer. You bring a plan, idea, business, trading strategy, spec or code before you build it. The skill interviews you, finds the real holes, and names the single thing most likely to kill it.
How it works — six passes:
- Pin it down — forces you to say exactly what you're building, for whom, and what "it worked" means as a number.
- Find the holes — hidden costs, cherry-picked winners, overfitting ("works in the demo"), missing edge cases, unchecked assumptions, and who already does this.
- How will you know? — demands a frozen metric, a baseline to beat, out-of-sample testing and results net of real cost.
- What kills it — the single most likely failure, plus the next two, ranked.
- The cheapest test — the smallest experiment that proves or kills the idea in a day, not a quarter.
- Verdict — Go / No-go / Fix-first, in one line.
Why use it:
- Separates VERIFIED facts from ASSUMED ones.
- No flattery, no "great idea!" — but kind to the person, hard on the work.
- If your idea is actually solid, it says so. It doesn't invent problems.
- Bilingual: replies in the language you write in (English or Spanish).
Built by Matías De Virgiliis, a futures trader, from his hard-won rule: measure honestly, never sell hope, find what kills it before you build it.
