vertical reframe
Example session with this skill installed
The main subject in clip m1 is off-center to the left. Reformat the project for TikTok using a vertical canvas and make sure he stays in frame.
- Read your context and instructions
- Compiled the vertical reframe
I have updated the project to a 1080x1920 vertical canvas. Since the subject in clip m1 is positioned on the left third of the original 16:9 frame, I applied a 30% right-side crop to keep them centered in the vertical window.

What you get
About this skill
The problem
Horizontal 16:9 video looks amateur when letterboxed on TikTok or Reels. Manual reframing is tedious because every shot requires custom X-axis adjustments to keep subjects centered without losing vital visual information.
What it does
- Converts horizontal timelines to 9:16 vertical canvas or 608x1080 export frames.
- Applies intelligent subject centering using crop and pixel-offset calculations based on shot composition.
- Generates blurred-background stacks for wide shots that cannot be cropped.
- Positions captions and titles within platform-safe zones to avoid UI overlap.
- Optimizes export profiles for mobile delivery platforms.
Frameworks & tools
FableCut, FableCut MCP tools, and browser-based video compositing engines.
Why this beats prompting it yourself
Standard LLMs struggle with the math required to translate 16:9 source coordinates into 9:16 safe zones. This skill handles the precise pixel offsets for centering subjects and manages multi-track stacking for blurred plates, preventing black-bar letterboxing automatically.
Use cases
- Converting YouTube videos into TikToks, Shorts, and Instagram Reels.
- Creating vertical social teasers while maintaining a horizontal master project.
- Automating safe-zone layout for interview captions and mobile UI overlays.
Known limitations
Requires an active FableCut project. Cannot perform headless rendering as exports must be triggered by the user in the browser UI.
