Systematic Debugging: Root Cause First

Claude often proposes a fix within seconds of seeing an error. This skill makes it investigate first: reproduce the problem, read the actual error, compare with code that works, then test one hypothesis at a time. Only then does it write a failing test where possible and apply one fix aimed at the root cause. If two fixes have already failed, it stops patching and starts the investigation over.

It triggers on bug reports, failing tests, regressions and unexpected behavior. It stays out of the way for new features and refactoring.
