Storewrap: take your web app to the App Store and Play

    1

A Capacitor workflow for an existing PWA or Next.js app: a go or no-go check first, safe areas for notches and Android 15, splash and icons, deep links, a review preflight and build numbers that always rise.

Storewrap: take your web app to the App Store and Play

Example session with this skill installed

Storewrap: our Next.js shop app needs to go on both stores. On Android 15 the header sits under the status bar and the splash flashes white before the first screen.

    • Read your context and instructions
    • Compiled the storewrap

    Store decision
Reason for the store build: order-status push on iOS and offline order history. Go.

Owner runs (nothing installed by the agent)

    npm i @capacitor/core && npm i -D @capacitor/cli
npx cap init "Shop App" com.exampleshop.app --web-dir out
npm i @capacitor/ios @capacitor/android && npx cap add ios && npx cap add android
npm run build && npx cap sync

    Fixes

    • Header: viewport-fit=cover, shell pads var(--sat) once; removed StatusBar.setBackgroundColor and adjustMarginsForEdgeToEdge.
    • Splash: backgroundColor set to the first web paint, launchFadeOutDuration: 200, SplashScreen.hide() after first render plus 8 s fallback.
    • Deep links: applinks:shop.example.com, assetlinks.json with the Play App Signing SHA-256.

    Preflight: 6 of 7 done

    • Privacy policy URL
    • In-app account deletion
    • Digital goods: none sold, no external payment links
    • Demo account in review notes
    • iOS privacy manifest and App Privacy answers
    • Play Data safety form
    • Real screenshots per size (pending capture)

    Next steps

    • Capture real screenshots for each required size.
    • Cold launch on a Dynamic Island iPhone and Android 15 in gesture and 3-button navigation.

    About this skill

Putting a web app in the App Store and Play Store tends to fail the same few ways. Apple rejects a website in a frame, the header slides under the notch on Android 15, the splash flashes white and deep links open the browser. Storewrap is a Capacitor workflow that first checks whether a store build is worth it, then takes an existing PWA or Next.js app through setup, safe areas, splash, deep links, review preflight and versioning.

    What it does

    • Go or no-go check: one line on what the store build gives users that the PWA does not, plus at least one native-backed feature to avoid a minimum-functionality rejection.
    • Bundled web build: Next.js output: 'export' into webDir: 'out'; server.url stays a dev-only setting.
    • Safe areas and system bars: pad the layout shell once with the --safe-area-inset-* variables, covering Capacitor 8 SystemBars and Android 15 edge-to-edge at targetSdk 36.
    • Icons and splash: @capacitor/assets sources, matching backgrounds, SplashScreen.hide() with an 8 s fallback.
    • Deep links and push: Universal Links and App Links files, with the Play App Signing fingerprint; push only when the step 1 reason needs it.
    • Preflight and versioning: privacy URL, account deletion, in-app purchase for digital goods, demo account, privacy manifest, Data safety, and build numbers that always rise.

    How it works

    1. Decide: write the reason, or stop and ship the PWA.
    2. Set up: hand the owner the Capacitor commands.
    3. Fix the shell: safe areas, icons and splash; wire deep links and push if used.
    4. Preflight and version: review checklist, one version source, tagged commit.
    5. Device check: real iPhones and Android 15+, then TestFlight and an internal Play track.

    Frameworks & tools

Capacitor and its plugins, Next.js static export, Xcode, Gradle, APNs and Firebase for push.

Why this beats prompting it yourself

A generic answer still suggests StatusBar.setBackgroundColor, which does nothing on Android at targetSdk 36, or hardcoded 44px bars. This workflow names those traps and the upload key mistake for App Links.

    Use cases

    • Store listing for an existing web app.
    • Capacitor app broke after a Capacitor 8 or targetSdk upgrade.
    • Native push on iOS without a home-screen install.

    Known limitations

Lists commands for you to run and installs nothing. Not for React Native, a rewrite, or making the web app an installable PWA. Server actions and route handlers must move to the backend first. You need developer accounts and real devices.
