Production Infrastructure & DevOps
Example session with this skill installed
Set up a new staging environment for our API with a Postgres database. Follow our infrastructure standards.
- Read your context and instructions
- Compiled the production infrastructure
Summary
Plan for a new staging environment, built from existing modules with only the differences declared. Example output; names are illustrative.
What the agent decided
| Area | Decision | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Terraform | New live directory staging/api, modules pinned by git ref | One directory is one state, no local module paths |
| Database | Managed Postgres from the data module, deletion protection on | Stateful things stay in Terraform |
| Connection facts | Published to the parameter store | Apps read scoped credentials, never raw secrets in git |
| Kubernetes | Stateless API only, deployed by an ArgoCD Application | The cluster holds no databases |
| Secrets | External Secrets maps parameter store paths to a Secret | Nothing secret in values files |
| Image tag | <code-version>-<config-hash> | Immutable and traceable |
Layered config, only the differences
# environments/staging/api.yaml
replicas: 2
resources:
requests: { cpu: 250m, memory: 512Mi }
Checks before merge
- Helm values pass JSON schema validation in CI
- Terraform plan shows no destroy on stateful resources
- All images pinned by tag and digest
Rollback
git revert the release commit. ArgoCD reconciles back, nothing is pushed by hand.
Connects securely to your tools. The creator never sees your data.
About this skill
Infrastructure you can review, repeat and roll back
This skill gives your agent the rules behind a well-run AWS and Kubernetes platform, so the Terraform, Helm and CI it writes is consistent, pinned and safe to change. It reads like a platform team's handbook, with the reasons included.
How it helps
- Clean structure. A versioned modules repo consumed by thin live configs, where one directory is one state.
- Stateful in Terraform, stateless in Kubernetes. Databases, caches, queues and search stay in Terraform. The cluster runs only stateless workloads.
- GitOps that is easy to undo. ArgoCD pulls from git, CI holds no cluster credentials, and rollback is
git revert. - Secrets stay out of git. A parameter store plus External Secrets, with only references in repos and images.
- Repeatable releases. Everything is version pinned, and image tags are content addressed (code version plus config hash).
- Fewer surprises. Validation in Terraform, schema checks for Helm values, multi-stage Docker images and cached CI pipelines.
What's inside
A short SKILL.md with the principles, plus 6 reference guides: Terraform and IaC, networking and compute, Kubernetes with Helm and GitOps, data and edge and secrets, Docker and CI/CD, and observability and disaster recovery.
Use it when
Writing or reviewing Terraform modules or live config, VPC and IAM and EKS setup, Helm or ArgoCD apps, secrets wiring, DNS and certificates, Dockerfiles, CI/CD workflows, or planning a new service or environment.
