    Pairing Gears

Example session with this skill installed

Use level 2 so I learn how requests flow while I fix this: the /orders endpoint returns 500 when the cart is empty.

    • Read your context and instructions
    • Compiled the pairing gears

    Level 2: Navigator

Start in src/routes/orders.ts, at the createOrder handler. That's where the request body becomes an order, and it's the first place that assumes the cart has items.

Look at how the total is calculated there. What happens to that calculation when cart.items is an empty array?

Try a fix for that case, then tell me what you changed and I'll review it before we move on.

Connects securely to your tools. The creator never sees your data.

    About this skill

Pairing Gears turns your coding agent into a pair-programming coach. You pick an assistance level and the agent gives one step at a time while you write the code. At levels 1–4 it waits for your attempt before moving on.

    Assistance levels

    1. Socratic coach: one question or conceptual hint. No code, commands or file locations.
    2. Navigator (default): points to the relevant file, function or decision and explains why.
    3. Mentor: explains the approach, edge cases and APIs, with pseudocode or partial examples.
    4. Pair programmer: gives exact snippets, commands and tests for you to apply.
    5. Implementation agent: makes the change, checks it and reports back.

You can ask for one specific thing ("just show me the code for this part") without changing the level.

    Who it's for

    • Engineers learning an unfamiliar codebase
    • Developers who want to keep their skills sharp on no-AI days
    • People learning to program who want a patient reviewer

    Example prompts

    • "Use level 2 so I learn how requests flow while I fix this."
    • "It's No-AI Friday: level 1, don't write any code for me."
    • "Do this part for me, then go back to level 2."

    How to use

Skills on Agensi run inside your AI agent. Copy the prompt, paste it into your agent, and it connects to Agensi and installs this skill for you. If a payment is needed, your agent shows it to you first.
