Will it get my text past AI detectors?

It doesn't promise that. The author tested model rewrites on GPTZero and they still scored as AI, so the skill only claims the text will sound like you.

Why a calibration instead of pasting my old writing?

Old samples are often already edited by a person or a model. The calibration gives you deliberately bland sentences to say your way, and since the baseline is known, every change you make is clean voice signal. Samples are still welcome on top.

What happens if I skip the calibration?

You can ask for a plain pass. It strips generic assistant patterns and tells you the result is cleaned up but not yet in your voice.

Will it add details or numbers to my text?

No. Names, numbers, dates and prices stay exactly as written, and it never adds a claim, example or closing line that wasn't in your text.

Where is my profile kept?

Outside the skill, so updates never touch it. In Claude Code it's ~/.own-voice/profile.md, or a folder you name. On claude.ai files don't survive between chats, so the skill hands you the profile to keep in a Project, or you paste it into the chat. If an older local install has voice/profile.md inside the skill folder, the skill offers to move it.

About this skill

Own Voice rewrites text in the way you actually write. Hand it an AI draft that doesn't sound like you, a rushed email or a stiff paragraph, and it gives it back with your rhythm, your words and your punctuation.

It starts with a five-minute calibration: ten short tasks where you rephrase deliberately bland sentences your way. Since the bland version is known, every change you make is clean voice signal, and the skill saves it as your voice profile.

Honest scope: this is a voice tool. It doesn't print "% human" scores and doesn't promise to beat AI detectors. We tested that: hand-written text scored 98% human on GPTZero, model rewrites 5–47%, so we don't sell it.
