3. Glue-Zone Map
- Hinge Strips: Apply glue to the outer 0.5" tabs only. Keep the center 0.5" spine gap free of adhesive.
- Pockets: Apply 0.25" bead of glue along the two folded tabs. DO NOT glue the diagonal top edge.
- Cover: Glue hinges to the inner spine area, ensuring a 0.125" clearance from the main cover folds.
4. Assembly Sequence
- Prep: Cut all components and score fold lines using a ruler and dull edge.
- Hinges: Fold hinge strips into "Z" shapes. Glue the first tab to the cover spine.
- Folios: Fold main pages in half. Glue the spine edge of the folio to the free hinge tab.
- Pockets: Fold pocket tabs inward. Glue to the bottom corners of pages 2 and 4.
- Dry-Fit: Close the journal to check for "creep" (pages sticking out). Trim if necessary.
- Finish: Add botanical ephemera within the 0.5" decoration safety margin.
