Qualification rules

Prioritize companies whose product solves a recurring designer problem and whose pricing, support and claims can be verified. Exclude prospects with unclear ownership, misleading claims, poor audience fit or a history of deceptive outreach. Do not imply audience endorsement.

Four-week workflow

Week 1: define 3 sponsor categories and collect 30 candidates. Week 2: score fit, proof quality, offer usefulness and contact relevance; advance the top 10. Week 3: send individually researched, concise messages that identify the audience and specific editorial fit. Week 4: follow up once, record responses, and close the loop respectfully.

Outreach note

“Hello [name] — our readers are independent designers working on [specific job]. Your [verified product feature] may be useful because [evidence-based reason]. Would a clearly labeled placement in [issue/date] be relevant? I can share audience composition, format and terms. No worries if it is not a fit.”

Track qualified replies, booked placements, reader clicks, complaints and renewal intent. Disclose paid placements prominently and never invent readership or performance figures.

Measurement and review

Record the baseline, source, date range, denominator and owner. Use one primary measure plus quality guardrails; compare like-for-like cohorts and disclose missing data. Treat estimates as scenarios, not observed outcomes.

Risks and controls

Check relevance, consent, disclosure, workload and downside before scaling. Keep an evidence trail, obtain human review for material commitments, and pause if trust, quality or compliance signals deteriorate.
