Example session with this skill installed

Run a transient analysis on a simple RC low-pass filter (R=1k, C=1uF) with a 5V step input. Export the CSV data and a summary report.

    • Read your context and instructions
    • Compiled the multisim circuit workflow
    • Generated the data export

I have successfully configured, simulated, and analyzed the RC low-pass filter circuit. The simulation was executed using the Multisim MCP engine, and the results have been verified against the experiment manifest.

The transient analysis shows the output voltage reaching approximately 63.2% of the input value at 1ms, matching the calculated time constant. The experiment bundle includes the generated .ms14 schematic and a high-resolution PNG export.

    Next steps

    1. Review the data.csv file in the project workspace for raw time-step values.
    2. Run multisim-mcp inspect-project to verify the integrity of the generated artifacts.
    3. Call run_ac_sweep if you need to characterize the frequency response of this filter.

Multisim MCP Circuit Engineering Workflow (Free)

    One-line summary

Generate, validate, simulate, and report on reviewable NI Multisim circuits through the open-source Multisim MCP server.

    Description

A free, self-service SKILL.md workflow for AI agents that work with the open-source Multisim MCP project. It guides the agent through requirements review, netlist and component checks, approval gates, native Multisim simulation, topology validation, and export of circuit images, CSV data, waveforms, and engineering reports.

The canonical implementation is open source: https://github.com/yxy050208/multisim-mcp

The npm integration is available here: https://www.npmjs.com/package/multisim-mcp-dsh-plugin

This free listing is the workflow and discovery layer. It does not include NI Multisim, NI sample projects, proprietary component templates, decoded XML, private model weights, or hosted simulation. Users need a locally installed and licensed Multisim environment.

The open-source project is the public MIT-licensed core. A future commercial edition may add maintained compatibility packs, broader validated component coverage, multi-board optimization, batch regression, private deployment, organization reports, and technical support. Commercial capabilities are separate from this free listing and will be advertised only for independently verified versions and components.

Current native evidence is concentrated on selected workflows in Multisim 14.3, including accepted analog examples and an HDR1X4 multi-board connector round trip. Other versions, components, and arbitrary complex circuits remain version-gated and may stay mapping-pending.

    Suggested use cases

    • Generate a reviewable Multisim circuit from a constrained laboratory requirement.
    • Run approved DC, AC, or transient experiments.
    • Check topology after Multisim opens and saves the generated design.
    • Export simulation data and an experiment report.
    • Understand why an unsupported component or version is blocked.

Manually configuring NI Multisim circuits and running simulations is a high-friction process prone to COM activation errors and broken netlists. This skill provides a structured workflow to diagnose the environment, generate verified schematics, and automate circuit simulation via the Multisim MCP server.

    What it does

    • Environment diagnosis runs the doctor utility to verify COM automation and license status.
    • Circuit design handles planning, component resolution, and netlist drafting for analog circuits.
    • Automated simulation executes DC, AC, and transient analyses directly through the Multisim engine.
    • Data analysis parses SPICE3 raw files and CSV outputs to compute gain, bandwidth, and rise times.
    • Report generation exports schematics, BOMs, and measured data into formatted Markdown reports.

    How it works

    1. Initialize the environment using multisim-mcp doctor to ensure the COM interface is responsive.
    2. Draft the circuit requirements including component tolerances and target analysis commands.
    3. Validate the netlist through the planning gate before committing to schematic generation.
    4. Execute the simulation using run_circuit_experiment to bundle results, plots, and manifests.

    Frameworks & tools

Requires NI Multisim (tested on 14.3), the multisim-mcp package, and a 32-bit Python environment for COM automation.

Why this beats prompting it yourself

Raw prompts often hallucinate SPICE node names or fail to handle Multisim's XML-based .ms14 format. This skill enforces a multi-stage approval gate that prevents broken netlists from ever reaching the simulation engine, saving hours of manual debugging.

    Use cases

    • Automating repetitive AC sweep tests for filter characterization.
    • Generating electronic design reports with embedded schematics and BOMs.
    • Verifying analog circuit behavior against SPICE source-of-truth netlists.
    • Batch processing design patches to evaluate component value changes.

    Known limitations

Requires a local licensed Multisim installation. Supports a subset of RLC, BJT, MOSFET, and op-amp components. Version-gated for native verification on Multisim 14.3.

    How to use

Skills on Agensi run inside your AI agent. Copy the prompt, paste it into your agent, and it connects to Agensi and installs this skill for you. If a payment is needed, your agent shows it to you first.
