Microservices Blueprint Pro: practical plan
Architecture review
First question
Do not split the monolith solely because it is growing. Identify measurable pain: deployment coupling, scaling bottlenecks, team ownership conflicts, reliability blast radius or release frequency. Confirm which modules are actually independent.
Boundary assessment
For billing, users and reporting, map data ownership, invariants, transaction needs, call volume, latency and change cadence. Billing may need strong consistency and careful auditability; reporting may be a better extraction candidate if it can consume events or replicated data.
Risk matrix
| Concern | Review |
|---|---|
| Data | Ownership, migrations, consistency |
| Reliability | Timeouts, retries, idempotency |
| Operations | Deployments, on-call, tracing |
| Security | Service identity, least privilege |
| Cost | Infrastructure and engineering overhead |
Migration plan
Begin with a modular boundary and extraction seam. Use strangler routing, dual-read or outbox patterns only where justified; define reconciliation and rollback.
Decision gate
Compare a modular monolith with one pilot service. Require an owner, SLO, observability, runbook and measured success criteria before expanding.
Measurement and review
Record the baseline, source, date range, denominator and owner. Use one primary measure plus quality guardrails; compare like-for-like cohorts and disclose missing data. Treat estimates as scenarios, not observed outcomes.
Risks and controls
Check relevance, consent, disclosure, workload and downside before scaling. Keep an evidence trail, obtain human review for material commitments, and pause if trust, quality or compliance signals deteriorate.
Next steps
- Confirm the goal, audience and available capacity.
- Gather the minimum evidence for a first test.
- Assign an owner, budget and review date.
- Run a small pilot, record outcomes and decide whether to iterate, expand or stop.

About this skill
Create a practical, evidence-led Microservices Blueprint Pro workflow. Design service boundaries, ownership, communication, data, failure handling, and migration paths for microservices. Distinguish observations from assumptions, request missing inputs, give actionable recommendations with owners and measurable outcomes, and flag uncertainty. Avoid fabricated metrics, unsupported guarantees, deceptive tactics and unnecessary personal data.
