MCP Multi-Server Tool Name Review
Example session with this skill installed
Use the included invented multi-server catalog. Review exact duplicates, cross-server repeats, similar names and advisory name-format findings. Tell me which observations require a controlled test in the intended MCP host. Do not contact either server.

MCP multi-server tool-name review
Status: REVIEW. The included invented snapshot contains 2 servers and 6 tool entries. The local packet reports one finding in each of four categories. No server was contacted and no tool was invoked.
| Finding | Observed names | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| DUPLICATE_WITHIN_SERVER | read_file occurs twice | files |
| SAME_NAME_DIFFERENT_SERVER | search | docs and files |
| SIMILAR_NAME_REVIEW | read-file / read_file | docs / files |
| NAME_FORMAT_REVIEW | Bad Name | docs |
The packet contains tool-name-review.json, HUMAN_REVIEW.md and an integrity receipt. The cross-server repeat is only an observation: MCP tool names are scoped within a server, and hosts may namespace or dispatch tools differently. A similar-name match is not proof of an invocation error. The name-character format is advisory SHOULD guidance, not an automatic protocol failure.
Next, confirm every catalog includes all pages of tools/list; review the exact and similar names with each server owner; then connect to the intended client in a controlled test and observe how it displays and dispatches them. Do not change host configuration based on this card alone.
Connects securely to your tools. The creator never sees your data.
What you get
About this skill
Copy completed tools/list name catalogs from two or more MCP servers into the documented JSON wrapper. The local CLI or optional stdio MCP tool flags exact names repeated within a server or across servers, visually similar names, and names outside MCP advisory format guidance. It produces a deterministic review card and integrity receipt. The companion Skill guides the human through checking actual host behavior. No server is contacted or tool invoked.
Includes installable Python source, CLI, optional local MCP adapter, Skill, invented multi-server catalog and sample packet. Python 3.11–3.14; optional MCP mode installs the pinned official SDK.
This is an advisory pre-connection naming review. MCP names are scoped within servers; hosts namespace and dispatch differently. Cross-server repeats do not prove an actual collision or misrouting. Reads one selected local JSON file and creates one new local output directory. No token, network, server call or host configuration write.
