Use the Market Sizer skill on the market and growth claims in the attached Project Sentinel CIM (24 pages, printed page numbers). The CIM is for a commercial fire and life-safety inspection business with TTM revenue of $6.21M. I have no market report. Separate what the seller says from what you estimate, and tell me what real data I would need.

    • Read your context and instructions
    • Compiled the market sizer

    Market pressure-test: Project Sentinel

    1. The market story as the seller tells it (quoted)

    • "Demand is underpinned by fire and life-safety codes that mandate periodic inspection, producing a non-discretionary, recurring service need." (CIM p.5, titled "Market & Competition")
    • Growth "has been driven by net new inspection agreements and modest price increases." (CIM p.6)
    • Customers: "commercial property groups, healthcare, education and light industrial facilities across its region." (CIM p.8)
    • Opportunities: "density expansion within the existing service area, attach of repair work to the inspection base, and selective price optimization." (CIM p.20)

    2. What is plausible, vague, or needs a source

    ClaimReadWhy
Codes mandate periodic inspectionPlausibleThe logic is sound, but the CIM names no code, no inspection frequency and no jurisdiction.
"Non-discretionary"Plausible, unsourcedNo evidence of what happens when a customer skips a cycle.
Growth from new agreements and priceVagueNo counts of new agreements, no price data. Revenue rose $5.34M, $5.78M, $6.21M (FS p.2), but the years are undated.
"Across its region"VagueThe region is never named, so no market can be sized from the CIM.
Density expansion, repair attachVagueOpportunities with no figure behind them.
CompetitionMissingSection 4 is headed "Market & Competition" and contains no competitor, share or pricing information.

    3. A grounded view, labelled as ESTIMATE, not fact

These are my estimates from general industry knowledge, not figures from any source. I do not look up live market data.

Market size: cannot be stated. Without the region, building count and typical inspection fees, any TAM number would be invented. The right method is bottom-up: commercial buildings in the service area x required inspections per year x average fee. Sentinel's $6.21M is a revenue base, not a share, until that denominator exists.

Market growth (estimate): inspection demand tends to follow the building stock, code cycles and price inflation, which points to low-to-mid single digit growth. Sentinel's 8.2% and 7.4% steps (mine, from FS p.2) are above that. The CIM attributes part of it to price (CIM p.6), so volume growth is likely lower.

Fragmentation (estimate): this type of market usually holds many local independents and a few larger multi-region providers. That would make the business a local player whose accounts can be approached by others.

    4. Competitive reality the CIM may be downplaying

    • Inspection work is repeatable and documented to a code. That can make it easier for a customer to rebid, especially a large one. Sentinel's biggest account is Northgate Property Group at about 22% of revenue (CIM p.9); a large property group may be able to run a competitive tender. This is a hypothesis to test, not a finding.
    • The CIM's "recurring" label (78%, CIM p.7) includes repair and call-out work for contracted accounts (CIM p.22), which varies with building age and incident volume (CIM p.7). Not all of that is protected by code.

    5. Real data needed to confirm

    1. The service region and its commercial building count (public records or a local data vendor).
    2. Applicable inspection code and frequency in that jurisdiction.
    3. Count of licensed competitors in the region (state licensing board list).
    4. Sentinel's win and loss history on rebids, and its price changes by year.
    5. Contract term, renewal date and rebid history for the top five accounts.

This is an analytical aid and not investment, legal, tax or accounting advice. Estimates are labelled as estimates. The Project Sentinel documents are synthetic test data.

    About this skill

Pressure-test the market story a seller tells, separate the CIM's quoted claims from a grounded estimate, flag what's vague, and surface the competitive reality being downplayed. Use when a CIM makes market-size or growth claims, or when asked to 'sanity-check the market', 'is this TAM real', or 'pressure-test the growth story'.

    Works with

Any agent that reads the SKILL.md standard and can read attached documents. No scripts, no network access, no installs.

    Known limitations

It works from the CIM or documents you provide plus the agent's general industry knowledge. The seller's claims are quoted and cited; the agent's own estimates are labelled as estimates, never as sourced figures. It does not look up live market data.
