KISS Clean Edits: Three Reflexes at the Edit

This fires when an agent adds a method, a handler, a case branch, or any member to a file that already exists. That moment is where codebases quietly rot, and a review two weeks later is too late to stop it.

Three rules. Extract on touch: state the host file's size out loud before adding to it, so growth is visible rather than ambient. Surgical edits: every changed line has to trace to the request, so no adjacent cleanups you did not ask for. YAGNI: nothing speculative gets written.

Includes why dispatch chains are not an exemption, which is the most common place the first rule gets argued away.
