I write copy for SaaS startups: websites, emails, case studies, some blogs. I bill $85/hour and I'm tired of estimating every job and getting squeezed on revisions. I want a flat-price offer. I was thinking a cheap 3-email 'Lite' at $600 to get people in the door, and a headline like "Double your trial-to-paid conversions — guaranteed."
[Also provided: income goal $8,000/mo, costs $450/mo, ~120 working hours/mo with 25% non-billable, hours on 3 past email-sequence projects, 4 competitor packages.]

Productized Service Plan: The SaaS Onboarding Email Sequence
Prepared for: Juniper Lane Copy (fictional) · Every number comes from your inputs, a calculation shown here, or a labeled [ASSUMPTION] / [NEEDS INPUT]. Not legal, tax or financial advice.
(Excerpt: pricing, tiers, claims check and verdict. The full plan also includes intake, deliverable selection, package spec, capacity math, SOP, intake form, terms, sales page and pitch.)
4. Pricing
A. Effective hourly floor
monthly need = $8,000 goal + $450 costs = $8,450
delivery hours = 120 × (1 − 0.25) = 90 h
target floor rate = $8,450 ÷ 90 = $93.89/h
floor rate = max($93.89, $85.00 current) = $93.89/h
planned hours = slowest comparable project = 19 h
package floor = 19 h × $93.89 = ~$1,784
Finding: your current $85 rate is below your own target floor of $93.89. Fully billed at $85 you'd earn $7,650, which is $800 short of the $8,450 you need.
B. Value anchor
value of one paying customer = $99/mo × 12 months = $1,188 (your clients' figures)
breakeven at $2,400 = $2,400 ÷ $1,188 = about 2 customers
A breakeven framing for the sales conversation, not a prediction of results.
C. Market check (your comparables, checked 2026-10-08)
| Comparable | Price | Units | Per email |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freelancer A | $1,500 | 5 emails | $300 |
| Freelancer D | $2,000 | 6 emails | $333 |
| Freelancer B | $2,800 | 7 emails | $400 |
| Agency C | $4,500 | 8 emails | $563 |
Final price
$2,400 for the 7-email Core package ·
$126.32/h effective on 19 planned hours · 34.5% above the floor · $342.86/email, lower-middle of your comparables.
5. Tiers
| Tier | Planned hours | Price | Effective $/hr | ≥ floor? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No: cut | ||||
| Starter (5 emails) | 13.6 | $1,800 | $132.35 | Yes |
| Core (7 emails) | 19 | $2,400 | $126.32 | Yes |
| Launch (Core + tool build + review call) | 26.5 | $3,400 | $128.30 | Yes |
Why Lite was cut: $600 for 8.1 hours is $74.07/h, below both your floor and your current rate. It would be a pay cut.
[ASSUMPTION: hours scale linearly per email; track actuals on the first 3 sales.]
12. Claims check
| Original | Issue | Rewrite |
|---|---|---|
| "Double your trial-to-paid conversions — guaranteed." | Guaranteed result you can't control or substantiate (FTC Act). | "Turn new trial signups into users who get it. Done in 15 business days." |
| "Juniper Lane's emails lifted our conversion 38%." | One client's result presented as typical (FTC Endorsement Guides). 9% → 12.4% is 3.4 points, not "38%" without context. | Quote the before/after, period and context, plus what clients generally achieve [NEEDS INPUT], or use a process testimonial. |
| "Only 2 spots left this month!" | A permanent banner is fake scarcity. | "I take on up to 4 sequences a month." |
13. Readiness verdict: LAUNCH (with conditions)
| Gate | Status |
|---|---|
| Price ≥ floor (all tiers) | Pass: tiers $126–$132/h vs $93.89 floor; Lite cut |
| Scope bounded | Pass |
| ≥ 3/5 productization tests | Pass (5/5) |
| Market check done | Pass (4 comparables) |
| No unfixed over-promise | Pass, if you use the rewrites |
Conditions:
1.
Keep hourly clients for now. Your goal needs 4 Core sales a month on packages alone, and you've sold about 0.4–0.7 a month. Aim for 2 a month alongside hourly work first.
2. Use the rewritten claims only. Get written permission before publishing any testimonial.
3. Re-check hours after 3 sales. If Core runs over 19 hours, tighten scope or reprice.
4. Raise your hourly rate to at least $94, so the hourly work you keep isn't below your own floor.

About this skill
Tired of estimating every job, getting squeezed on revisions, and capping your income at your hourly rate? This skill turns "I do copywriting / design / bookkeeping / dev" into one to three fixed-scope, fixed-price packages, and checks that they actually pay.
What it does
- Picks the right thing to productize. It scores your services on five tests (repeatable, clear outcome, bounded scope, stable hours, demand) and picks the one deliverable worth packaging.
- Prices it three ways, with the math shown. Your effective hourly floor from your own income goal, costs and billable hours. A value anchor from your clients' own numbers. A market check against comparables you collect. Every tier must clear your floor, and offers that would be a pay cut get cut.
- Defines the package: deliverables, what's not included, revisions, turnaround, client inputs, and fit criteria.
- Builds the business around it: capacity math (how many a month, what that earns), a delivery SOP, an intake form, and plain-language scope, change-request and payment terms.
- Writes the sales copy: a sales page section and a short DM or email pitch.
- Checks your claims. "Guaranteed results" headlines, one-client testimonials presented as typical, and fake "only 2 spots left" banners get rewritten honestly.
- Gives a verdict: LAUNCH / TIGHTEN SCOPE / RETHINK, with reasons and conditions.
Honest by design
No invented market rates, no made-up conversion numbers, no income promises. Every figure comes from you, from a calculation shown on the page, or is labeled [ASSUMPTION] / [NEEDS INPUT]. The skill will tell you when a package can't hit your goal, or when you should keep hourly clients for now.
Not legal, tax or financial advice.
