Excel Formula Doctor — Fix Broken Formulas

Intent: Calculate net sales per unit. Zero quantity has an explicit display rule; unrelated errors should not be suppressed.

Proposed formula for D2: =IF(C2=0,"No units",B2/C2)
Copy behavior: Relative references become B3/C3, B4/C4 and so on when filled downward. Confirm that each row is one intended record and that quantity and sales are numeric.

Why this approach: It handles the stated zero condition directly rather than wrapping the entire calculation in IFERROR. Other failures can remain visible for diagnosis.

Important blank case: A genuinely empty C2 may compare equal to zero in Excel. If blank means missing rather than zero, use an explicit business rule. Proposed alternative when a blank should display “Missing quantity”: =IF(C2="","Missing quantity",IF(C2=0,"No units",B2/C2))

Expected manual cases: B2=100, C2=5 → 20. C2=0 → “No units.” Blank C2 → depends on the chosen rule; alternative gives “Missing quantity.” Error values and nonnumeric text should be investigated, not silently converted to zero. Confirm negative quantities and text-like numbers under the actual data contract.

Validation plan: Test zero, blank, numeric text, error cells, normal rows and copied references in the actual Excel version and locale. Semicolon separators may be required by the locale.

Limits: Text outputs may affect downstream aggregation. No workbook opened, edited, recalculated or verified; these are proposed formulas and manual expectations.
