    About this skill

    The problem

Trendlines drawn by eye start on a swing that merely looks right, cut through wicks a few candles later and pile up until the chart is unreadable. Redrawing them on every timeframe takes longer than the analysis itself.

    What it does

Draw Trendlines marks up the chart that is already open in your signed-in TradingView session. It works top-down through 1M, 1W, 1D, 4H and 1H and draws one connected fan of rays per direction: green support rays from the lowest low, red resistance rays from the highest high, shaded dark to light from the oldest ray to the newest. After the rays it adds a few thin yellow horizontal levels where price clearly turned before.

    How the geometry works

    • Point A is the true extreme: the absolute lowest low (or highest high) in the loaded history, not a swing that looks attractive.
    • Point B is the first wick the ray touches when it swings up (or down) from horizontal. That is the limiting outer tangent, computed from the candle data rather than estimated on screen.
    • B becomes the next A. Each ray starts where the previous one ends, so the fan is one continuous chain from the monthly chart down to the 1-hour chart.
    • Zero wrong-side wicks. Every ray is checked against every candle from A to the latest bar, including after B. A ray that is crossed is corrected or removed, never left as a broken line.
    • Each lower interval re-snaps inherited anchors to the exact wick before anything new is drawn.

    Why it stops at 1H

Rays from 15m, 5m and 1m candles multiply quickly and mostly hang on the live candle. Version 1.1 stops the fan at the 1-hour chart on purpose, so the result stays readable. The rays remain visible when you switch to a shorter interval.

    Safe by design

    • Draws only: rays and horizontal levels. No indicators, alerts, layout clearing or publishing.
    • Never opens the trading panel and never places, edits or cancels an order.
    • Your own drawings are left alone. The skill labels its rays (DT) and asks before removing anything on a symbol.
    • No credentials: you sign in to TradingView yourself. No tracking, telemetry or API keys.

    What is included

    • The skill instructions with the full method, the TradingView workflow, a palette and a structure-level guide.
    • An adapter for other charting programs that have a ray or extend-right trend line.
    • outer_tangent.py: an offline Python checker (standard library only, no network) that computes the fan from a TradingView CSV export, with 12 unit tests.

Technical-analysis annotation only. Not financial advice, and no trendline is guaranteed to hold.
