About this skill
This skill teaches your agent to drive DaVinci Resolve through the free, open-source resolve-mcp MCP server, and to prove what it changed instead of guessing.
What your agent can do
- Edit: cut, trim, ripple, slip, reorder, add transitions and speed changes. Workarounds build a new timeline, so your original is never touched.
- Color: LUT-compiled looks (wheels, curves, hue/sat, skin protection) or real Color-page grades with circle power windows.
- Motion and audio: keyframed zoom/position/opacity through Fusion; offline gain, fades, volume envelopes and normalize.
- Deliver: render with any preset, export EDL / FCPXML / OTIO / AAF.
How it keeps you safe
- It checks that the bridge is running, snapshots the project, checks every
{requested, actual, ok}result and runsdiff_stateto show what really changed. - It looks at a rendered frame before claiming a visual change worked.
- Destructive actions need your confirmation. A .drp backup is made first, and old grades are kept as a backup color version.
- Every reply says what changed, where, how to check it and how to undo it.
- It is honest about limits. Tracking, Fairlight mixer and Studio-only AI tools have no API on Resolve Free, so you get UI steps instead.
Requirements (please read)
- Windows and DaVinci Resolve 21.0.4 Free. Resolve 21.1+ Free removed scripting, so don't update.
- The resolve-mcp server installed from GitHub (free, MIT). This skill contains instructions only and does nothing without it. Setup steps are in
references/setup.md. - Each Resolve session: Workspace → Scripts → ClaudeBridge.
Everything runs locally: a loopback socket with a per-session token, no cloud calls and no telemetry.
