Research this prospective client for a possible [service/offer]. Prospect company and region: [name, official website, market]. My approved offer and ideal fit: [details]. Use legitimate public company sources and the materials I provide. Return a dated source list, confirmed company facts, current public priorities or signals, relevant public business stakeholders if clearly identified, evidence-backed fit hypotheses, unknowns and conflicting information, tailored discovery questions, and optional outreach themes for human review. Distinguish fact from inference. Do not seek private personal data, infer sensitive traits or private intent, invent budgets or buying authority, or contact anyone.

Prospect brief — research plan (no company supplied)
No target company, region, or offer details were included, so this example contains no company-specific findings. Use the following structure after researching an identified prospect through legitimate public sources.
Evidence log
| Question | Evidence to capture | Source standard |
|---|---|---|
| What does the company do? | Officially stated products, customer segments, markets, and business model | Company website, filings, or official profile; record access date |
| What is changing now? | Dated launches, public announcements, hiring, expansion, or stated priorities | First-party announcement or reliable public record; do not treat a signal as a purchase plan |
| How might our offer fit? | Specific public evidence connected to the user’s approved offer | Label as a hypothesis and explain the link |
| Who may be relevant? | Public professional role and published business responsibilities | Official team page or public professional profile; confirm current role |
Confirmed facts versus hypotheses
- Confirmed facts: populate only with direct statements and dated source links.
Fit hypothesis: state why a verified signal may relate to the offer, plus an alternative explanation. Do not describe it as a known pain or buying intent.
Unknowns: budget, timing, internal priorities, decision process, authority, and willingness to buy remain unknown unless the prospect has made them public.
Conflicts: retain both claims, their dates, and sources; prefer the most recent first-party evidence when appropriate.
Discovery questions
- Is [publicly stated priority] still an active priority for your team?
- How are you currently approaching [relevant business problem] and what is working well?
- What would make an outside solution useful, if you are considering one?
- Which teams would need to participate in evaluating a solution?
- What constraints or evaluation criteria should a potential provider understand?
These are questions, not assumptions about the prospect.
Optional outreach theme for human review
“ I noticed your public update about [verified announcement]. We help [relevant audience] with [approved service]. If [related challenge] is on your team’s agenda, would a short conversation about your current approach be useful?”
Replace every bracket with checked facts and the user’s approved offer. Remove the message if the public signal is stale or the connection is weak. Do not imply a relationship, urgency, or private knowledge. A human must verify the recipient, source, wording, and appropriateness before sending.
Next steps
Provide a target company and the approved offer. Verify each fact against current first-party sources, record dates and links, separate evidence from inference, and use the brief only to support respectful discovery. This example does not assert anything about an actual company or person.

About this skill
Client Research Pro
Help freelancers, consultants, agencies, and business-development teams understand a prospective client before outreach. Build a source-grounded account brief from legitimate public information and materials the user provides: company model, stated priorities, products and services, public business signals, likely fit with the seller’s approved offer, relevant public stakeholders, technology context when verifiable, open questions, and possible discovery angles.
Prioritize primary sources such as company websites, official announcements, filings, and public job pages. Record source URLs and dates, distinguish confirmed facts from hypotheses, note conflicting or stale information, and avoid inferring private intent, budgets, revenue, or buying authority without evidence. Convert verified context into respectful, relevant discovery questions and optional outreach themes for a human to review.
Use public business information and user-provided context only. Do not investigate private personal lives, obtain sensitive data, bypass access controls, create background checks, or contact prospects. Minimize personal details, avoid sensitive traits, and never fabricate company facts or executive intent. This skill is not a guarantee of sales or professional legal or financial advice.
