Clearance Profit Hunter
Example session with this skill installed
Evaluate this clearance listing: [exact product, model, variant, condition, retailer/store or URL, price, offer terms, quantity, location, date]. I have these sold transactions, active listings, and cost inputs: [paste links or records, tax, fees, shipping, packaging, labor, returns, and storage]. Separate confirmed facts from unknowns, calculate all-in cost and seller-net at comparable prices, set a break-even and maximum buy price where supportable, assess sell-through and risks, and recommend BUY, TEST-BUY, WATCH, or SKIP. Do not assume the listing is in stock or that asking prices are completed sales.

Decision: WATCH pending verification
The example contains no actual product, current offer, completed sales, or cost data, so a buy recommendation or profit estimate would be unsupported. Here is the evidence to collect and the decision worksheet to use once those inputs are available.
Verify product and offer
Record the exact brand, model, UPC/SKU, variant, pack count, condition, retailer, store or channel, location scope, quantity limit, eligibility rules, coupon or membership requirement, tax, and offer end date. Confirm that the item is currently obtainable at the stated price. Distinguish permanent clearance, temporary promotion, bundle, open box, and other markdown types.
Separate market evidence
| Evidence | Capture | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Completed sale | Date, channel, exact variant, condition, quantity, sold price, shipping | Comparable transaction; normalize differences before using |
| Active listing | Current ask, condition, shipping, listing age if known | Competition context only; not proof of a sale |
| Retail offer | Source, timestamp, eligibility, stock, quantity | Confirms whether acquisition may be possible |
Use recent, like-for-like sold transactions when available. Exclude mismatched variants or label the adjustment. Note sample size and stale or regional evidence. If comparable sale records are missing, keep the resale price unknown rather than substituting active asks.
Unit economics
For each candidate channel, calculate:
all-in cost = obtainable item price + attributable tax, membership, pickup/travel, inbound shipping, and other acquisition costs.
Seller net = realistic expected sale proceeds minus marketplace/payment/promotional fees, outbound shipping, packaging, storage, labor, expected returns/warranty allowance, and other supplied costs.
Estimated contribution = seller net − all-in cost. Show every input and whether it is verified or estimated. Do not double-count costs.
Break-even sale price and maximum buy price can be calculated only when fees, shipping, taxes, and other material inputs are available. If any are unknown, state the missing values and show a formula or range instead of a fabricated point estimate. Consider sell-through, competition, seasonality, product lifecycle, restock risk, inventory aging, restrictions, returns, and channel fit.
Decision gates
BUY: only when exact identity, availability, lawful channel, relevant sold evidence, and conservative net economics are verified.
TEST-BUY: a small quantity may be justified when evidence is promising but uncertainty remains and downside is limited.
- WATCH: wait for stock, offer terms, or comparable transactions to be confirmed.
- SKIP: use when the economics fail, evidence conflicts, restrictions are unclear, or downside is too large.
Next steps
Provide a dated source for the offer and a set of recent completed sales for the exact variant. Add location and quantity limits plus every acquisition and selling cost. Recalculate a conservative, base, and upside case, then set a maximum quantity that fits the user’s risk and cash constraints. Recheck the offer and platform rules immediately before purchase. This example makes no claim that an actual item is available or profitable.

About this skill
Clearance Profit Hunter
Assess whether a clearance or closeout item is a viable resale opportunity. Identify the exact product and variant, verify the offer terms and obtainable cost, separate active asking prices from completed transactions, and normalize comparable sales for condition, date, geography, shipping, and pack size.
Calculate all-in acquisition cost and realistic seller-net proceeds using the costs the user provides, including tax, pickup or inbound shipping, marketplace and payment fees, packaging, outbound shipping, storage, labor, returns, and markdown risk. Estimate a break-even price and maximum buy price only when the inputs support them. Compare suitable lawful channels and recommend a clear next step such as BUY, TEST-BUY, WATCH, or SKIP, with confidence and key missing evidence.
Never treat a large discount as proof of profit. Distinguish verified facts from estimates, active listings from completed sales, and current evidence from assumptions. Do not invent availability, demand, fees, sales history, or profit, and never guarantee resale results. Verify current marketplace policies, product restrictions, and offer availability before buying.
