Arabic Typography for Ads
Example session with this skill installed
Give my designer a type spec for the end card of a 9:16 TikTok ad. Brand: OUDLY, a modern oud perfume brand (wordmark in Latin). Headline: "عطرك يحكي عنك". Price 249 SAR. CTA: "اطلبه الحين". The bottle is the hero. Audience: Saudi women and men, 22–35.
- Read your context and instructions
- Compiled the arabic typography
Summary
End-card type spec for OUDLY, built for a Saudi reader: the product sits on the left, Arabic leads, there's no generated type, and everything stays clear of TikTok's UI.
1. Plate (generate this, with no text)
- Bottle on the left third, lit from the right. The reading path enters top-right and ends on the bottle.
- Leave the right 55% of the upper half empty for type, on a smooth gradient with no texture behind the letters.
- Keep the wordmark on the bottle itself: it's diegetic, so it
is generated, then checked letter by letter against the real bottle.
2. Type spec
| Element | Text | Face / weight | Size (1080×1920) | Position |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Headline | عطرك يحكي عنك | Noto Kufi Arabic Bold (a modern Kufic register suits a design-forward oud brand) | 112 px, 1 line | Top-right, flush right |
| Price | 249 ر.س | IBM Plex Sans Arabic Medium, Western numerals | 72 px | Under the headline, flush right |
| CTA | اطلبه الحين ← | IBM Plex Sans Arabic SemiBold, in a pill | 56 px | Right side, above the caption zone |
| Brand | OUDLY | Plex Sans Latin, matched cut | 40 px, quieter than the Arabic | Bottom-left, near the bottle |
3. Rules for the designer
- Never letterspace the Arabic. Tracking breaks the connected letterforms.
- Keep tashkeel off for this commercial register.
- The CTA arrow points left (←). A right-pointing arrow is backwards in RTL.
- Numerals: Western digits, with ر.س after the figure, the same on every frame of the campaign.
- Set the Arabic about 10–15% larger than the Latin so they feel equal in weight. Arabic stays primary.
- Safe area: keep everything out of TikTok's right rail and the bottom caption zone (roughly the bottom 20%).
4. Pre-ship checklist
- No model-generated Arabic in the frame
- Joins and contextual forms checked by an Arabic reader
- Reading path runs right-to-left and ends on the bottle
- Arabic visually primary over OUDLY
- Fonts and weights recorded in the edit sheet (both are free for commercial use; confirm the licence)
Next steps
Generate the plate from section 1, set the type in Figma or After Effects using this spec, then run the checklist.

About this skill
Use this skill when an ad needs Arabic text that looks intentional on screen. It helps you reserve clean space in generated frames, choose a suitable script and hierarchy, pair Arabic with Latin text, set numerals and line breaks, and check the actual reading path in a vertical layout.
You receive a type specification with exact strings, font choices, placement, safe areas and a clean-plate handoff. On-screen copy stays editable in post, and a native Arabic reader checks the final export.
Useful for video ads, end cards, thumbnails and social graphics. You supply the approved Arabic copy and brand assets.
