    How do I drive a SwiftUI NavigationStack with my own path state, and which platforms support it?

    • Read your context and instructions
    • Compiled the apple dev docs

    Summary

    Checked the live MCP connection, searched Apple's docs, fetched the full page, and answered with platform availability and a source link.

    PlatformMinimum version
    iOS16.0+
    iPadOS16.0+
    macOS13.0+
    Mac Catalyst16.0+
    tvOS16.0+
    watchOS9.0+
    visionOS1.0+

    Drive the stack with your own path

    struct ParksView: View {
        @State private var path: [Park] = []

        var body: some View {
            NavigationStack(path: $path) {
                List(parks) { park in
                    NavigationLink(park.name, value: park)
                }
                .navigationDestination(for: Park.self) { park in
                    ParkDetails(park: park)
                }
            }
        }
    }

    Pass a Binding to a collection with init(path:root:). The stack adds and removes items as views appear and disappear, and an empty array means only the root is showing.

    Notes from the docs

    • The root view is always present and cannot be removed.
    • Back controls are disabled while the stack is empty.
    • Seed path up front to restore a deep link.

    Next steps

    • Move path into your model if you need deep links or state restoration.
    • Use navigationDestination(for:) once per data type, not per row.

    About this skill

    Apple Dev Docs teaches your agent to answer Apple platform questions from Apple's own documentation and WWDC session transcripts instead of guessing.

    Apple's docs are JavaScript-rendered and poorly indexed by search engines, and model knowledge drifts a release or two behind. This skill routes those questions to apple-rag-mcp, a hosted MCP server that searches official documentation and session transcripts with hybrid retrieval and ranks the results by relevance.

    What it does

    • Confirms the search and fetch tools are connected, and shows how to add the server if they are not.
    • Turns vague questions into precise English API queries.
    • Reads partial results correctly and fetches the full page before quoting.
    • Answers with platform availability and source URLs, and says so when the docs are silent.

    What you need

    The free apple-rag-mcp remote MCP server — URL only, no API key, 30 tool calls a week. Works with any client that supports remote HTTP MCP.
