Agent Handoff Packets

Work dies in the gaps between agents. A task finishes in one session, resumes in another, and the context that made the work good — why a decision was made, what was already tried, what's still open — evaporates. This skill produces a structured handoff packet: a compact, complete record that lets the next agent (or person) continue exactly where the last one stopped, with no re-discovery and no repeated mistakes.

• Delegating work to a subagent or another AI.

• A long task will continue in a new session or after a break.

• Handing completed or in-progress work to a teammate or to your future self.

• An agent finished work and you need to verify nothing was dropped before continuing.

• For trivial tasks that fit in one message. A packet for "rename this file" is overhead.

• As a chat log. The packet is a distilled record, not a transcript.

• Continuation: work is unfinished; someone else picks it up. Emphasize state and next action.

• Completion: work is done; someone else reviews or builds on it. Emphasize decisions and deliverables.

• Escalation: work is blocked; someone with more context or authority takes over. Emphasize the blocker and what was tried.
