    Agent Full Backup

Example session with this skill installed

Back up my entire agent setup: all my skills, knowledge, and agent files, verified.

    • Read your context and instructions
    • Compiled the agent full backup

Backed up your agent setup completely: 11 files (2,150 bytes) captured byte for byte into agent-backup-2026-10-20.zip (5,505 bytes), organized as Skills/ (5 files), Knowledge/ (4 files), and Agents/ (2 files), with a checksum manifest at the archive root. Every verification check passed.

    Intake

You confirmed one parent folder holding all three roots: skills/ with three skill folders, knowledge/ holding your notes and memory, and agents/ with two agent definition files. Destination and archive name confirmed: the backups folder, dated today.

    Inventory

    FolderFilesBytes
    Skills (invoice-extractor, meeting-notes, recipe-tagger)51,020
    Knowledge (notes and memory files)4681
    Agents (2 definition files)2449

Hidden files and dotfiles: none present. Databases or binary exports: none present.

    Secrets screen

One hit: agents/research-assistant.md, line 5, an sk- credential pattern. You confirmed it is a rotated-out placeholder and chose to include it, and the decision is recorded in the manifest. No other pattern hits across the 11 files.

    The archive

agent-backup-2026-10-20.zip contains the three top-level folders and the manifest at the root:

    • Skills/: invoice-extractor (SKILL.md 245 B, field-map.md 116 B), meeting-notes (SKILL.md 257 B, format-rules.md 174 B), recipe-tagger (SKILL.md 228 B)
    • Knowledge/: contacts.md 177 B, preferences.md 143 B, project-log.md 196 B, weekly-review.md 165 B
    • Agents/: research-assistant.md 261 B, writing-partner.md 188 B
    • BACKUP-MANIFEST.md: header with source roots and totals, a per-file MD5 table covering all 11 files, the secrets screen record, and the exclusion section (none excluded)

    Verification results

    CheckResult
Archive integrity (unzip -t)PASS, no errors detected
File count: archive vs expected12 vs 12, MATCH (11 captured files + manifest)
Checksum re-verification: extracted vs manifest11 of 11 match, PASS
Manifest totals vs archive contentsReconciled, PASS: 11 rows, 2,150 bytes
    Byte fidelity: staged vs extracted vs source2,150 = 2,150 = 2,150, PASS
Recursive tree comparison: source vs extractedIdentical in all three folders, PASS

Nothing was transformed along the way: files were copied byte for byte, and a full recursive diff of the extracted archive against your source folders found zero differences. The manifest is the archive's certificate, so the restore can prove fidelity later without trusting the copy job.

    Next steps

    1. Copy agent-backup-2026-10-20.zip somewhere this machine cannot destroy, such as an external drive or a storage service you control.
    2. Keep the restore protocol with the archive: extract to a fresh folder, verify every checksum against the manifest before placing anything, and merge into a live setup file by file with conflicts surfaced, never overwritten silently.
    3. Re-run the backup whenever your skills or knowledge change materially. The manifest proves what was captured and what each file checksummed to on 2026-10-20, which is what makes the archive trustworthy months from now.

    About this skill

Agent Full Backup turns a scattered agent setup into one verified archive: every skill, every knowledge or memory file, and every agent configuration file, copied byte for byte into a single zip organized into Skills, Knowledge, and Agents folders, with a checksum manifest and a restore protocol alongside.

    What it does

    • Maps your setup first. Intake identifies your skills root, your knowledge or memory root, and your agents folder when one exists, with the mapping confirmed before anything is copied.
    • Inventories everything. A recursive walk records every file with its path and size, including hidden files and dotfiles where agent setups keep their state.
    • Screens for secrets. Likely credentials are flagged by path and pattern only, never by value, and you decide include or exclude per file with the decision recorded in the manifest.
    • Copies byte for byte. Zero transformation: no reformatting, no re-encoding, no line-ending conversion, so the archive matches the source exactly.
    • Builds the manifest. BACKUP-MANIFEST.md records the date, the source roots, per-folder counts and bytes, and an MD5 checksum for every file.
    • Verifies before delivery. Archive integrity, count match, checksum re-verification of every extracted file, totals reconciliation, and byte-fidelity checks must all pass before the archive is handed over.
    • Restores safely. A restore protocol extracts to a staging area, verifies against the manifest, and merges into a live setup with conflicts surfaced for your decision.

    How it works

    • The agent confirms your three roots and the destination, then inventories each root recursively and reports counts and standout file types before copying.
    • Files are staged into Skills/, Knowledge/, and Agents/ preserving relative paths. The Agents folder is included when agent files exist, and its absence is stated plainly in the manifest when they do not.
    • The manifest is written at the archive root, the tree is zipped with the date in the name, and a six-check verification pass runs on the archive itself.
    • The delivery report carries the real numbers from the verification pass, and any check the environment cannot run is reported as unverified rather than assumed.

Why this beats prompting it yourself

A one-off prompt asks an agent to copy some folders, and the failure modes are predictable: the memory folder missed because it lives under a dotfile path, purchased skills skipped because a root was guessed, line endings quietly converted so files no longer match their sources, credentials copied into a zip with no record of the decision, and no way to prove months later that the archive is complete and uncorrupted. The skill fixes each failure by structure: confirmed roots, a full inventory, a secrets screen with recorded decisions, a checksum for every file, and a verification pass that re-extracts the archive and compares every checksum before delivery. The backup runs entirely on your machine and uploads nothing.

    Known limitations

Anything living purely in a cloud service stays out of scope; only files on the machine can be archived. The secrets screen is pattern-based and catches common credential shapes without claiming completeness. Binary and database files are carried as files with no content inspection beyond the screen. Verification depth depends on the commands your environment provides.

    How to use

Skills on Agensi run inside your AI agent. Copy the prompt, paste it into your agent, and it connects to Agensi and installs this skill for you. If a payment is needed, your agent shows it to you first.
