Our React/TypeScript dashboard uses one WebSocket wrapper. After a rolling backend deploy, thousands of browsers disconnect together. Every client reconnects after exactly one second, and the heartbeat timeout also schedules reconnect. Sometimes an old socket close handler fires after the new socket connects and schedules a third connection. Each reconnect subscribes again without reconciling the old subscription ID, so some users get duplicate notifications. Repair locally with fake timers and a local WebSocket server. Do not connect to production, change load balancers, or replay client write messages.
